Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.
These are the five things mrsfjl66 associates with me. Comment and I'll give you five of your own.
1. Banjos - Hee! I love banjos. I love watching people (but especially guys) play banjo. I love the way they look (most of the time), I adore the way they sound and the ability to play them well will make any dude sexy as hell in my eyes. Which can end up being pretty disturbing. It's like my version of beer goggles.
2. Las Cruces - I've been missing Las Cruces lately. The food there is better, I miss the Organ Mountains soooo much, I miss the land scape and the daily awesome sunrises and sunsets. I don't miss the people too terribly much because those I miss aren't there anymore, but I'm not dredding going back for my 10 year reunion or friend's wedding as much as I would have thought.
3. John/Aeryn - YAY! I'm glad that even though you don't watch the show you still know me for that. This makes me way more happy than it should. I'm definitely more of a John girl than an Aeryn girl, but I love them both and when they're together, they spark and explode and are oh so very gorgeous. Not always healthy, but always so, so amazing to watch. So, ya know, WATCH IT!
4. RPattz (and his hair) - *shame* I really like him better for his voice than anything else. I kind of hope he never plays banjo, cause I might combust (that's not a word? Really?). The boy is hot in both this weird pretty way and in this totally alien way. His sense of hygiene is a little skeevy so I'm not sure I'd like to sit next to him on a bus, but he just kind of draws me in, in a way that I'm sooo not proud of. Did I mention I really, really like to hear him sing? Cause I do. A lot. 5. Midwifery - It's a hard thing for me to talk about because it's so far in the future for me right now. I am planning on going back to school this summer/fall and I've pretty much given up on the Philippines or any over seas work until after I've gotten my masters. We'll see what God has in store for me. As for why Midwifery? I don't know. It grabbed me and hasn't really let go for the last 6 years. It's time to get on the ball.

I've been meaning to write up this kind of hygiene/beauty/morning ritual type poll for about six months, so I figured I might as well since I'm super bored right now. If you only want to answer some but not others, that's cool, but I'm super curious about other's routines and habits and all that jazz.
I refrained from asking about how much people spend on these products and even as I'm posting I can think of at least five more questions I'm curious about so I might just post a follow up poll later.
( 15 questions: you know you want to. because you love me. ) |

| Merry Christmas |
[Dec. 25th, 2008|05:40 am] |
I had this (actually more than just this) memorized when I was 5. Oh to have a brain like a sponge once again.
Anyway, Happy Christmas y'all. I love ya and appreciate you, especially those who have been such an amazing, amazing support over the last year. Yesterday was hard but we made it through with minimal tears and quite a lot of fun.
The kids were a blast to watch and play with. I really couldn't ask for a better family.
I thank God for them and for all of you who I'm so privileged to call my friends.
Have a fabulous day, whether you're celebrating or not! |

I know it's the end of October but I seriously thought I'd already posted this.
It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but it's also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. For obvious reasons, I care a lot about this issue and would just like to encourage y'all to A) learn more about domestic violence, what it is, and what your community is doing to combat it and B) contact your local DV shelter to see if they take donations (not necessarily money. They almost always need clothes, small toiletries, gift cards, small appliances if they have a transitional housing program, etc) and what they need most and see if you can help them out. We're coming up on the holidays and it's a horrible time to be in shelter, and every little bit helps. If you don't know how to find your local DV shelter, you can go to www.ncadv.org or call the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 and ask them for numbers to some of the shelters in your area. /speech. |

There's nothing quite like driving home from work with Darth Vader floating overhead.
Loves me some Balloon Fiesta time.
Oliver told me all about Sunday's balloon glow. Too bad I don't quite understand Oliver-speak fluently but he was sooo excited.
I tried to take some pictures this morning but our apartment looks out toward the east, which gives us a great view, but it's also looking directly into the sun when the balloons are at their most impressive group mass and I have no camera skills so they just come out washed out, blurry and meh. I'm going to try and go out for one of the mass ascensions this week (there's a shapes one Thursday morning that could be cool) and I kind of want to go to my first Glowdeo, but we'll see.
For now, check out these pics (from 2007 but it's kind of the same every year) taken by someone who definitely knows how to work a camera.
It's a meeting Tuesday so I'm going to go topple now. |

| Farscape Rewatch: Premier |
[Oct. 1st, 2008|03:39 am] |
So I'm doing a Farscape rewatch since it's been so long. I'm not going to watch every ep (I know there's no chance in hell I'll make it through Rhapsody in Blue and a few others) but I'm shooting for 75%.
It's exciting! Aren't you excited?!
( Premier (or Oh Show! You were so young and cute back then! )
I still have just as much love for this show as I did 6 years ago.
That doesn't change the fact that I kind of want to skip to "PK Tech Girl" and then on to "DNA Mad Scientist".
I got this icon a long time ago and didn't label who made it. I want to say it's either scorpy808 or scapeartist. Does anyone remember who made it? |

Leaf blowers suck.
My mom's phone broke so she has mine for the day. Which means I'm relying on a person to wake me up. This could be bad. She's going to try to figure how to switch activation from her broken phone to Siah's old phone. This could also be bad.
I made a Body Shop run today since it's chapstick season and theirs is the best (spf 15, orange, non irritating) so in the dryer months I only have to apply it ever 1-2 hours instead of every 20 minutes. I plan to make a second run this weekend sometime since I get paid then.
For today I went ahead and got my last Satsuma body wash until next April or May and a shea butter cleansing creme that I might take back even if it was half off since I think I'm going to try out their aloe line (which is fabulously fragrance free as I'm not a big fan of any winter appropriate scents). I should probably go ahead and get more of their hemp body butter as well since I'm going to need to ramp up my use of that for my poor abused feet. The stuff smells like a hippie but it's the only thing I've found that keeps our berber carpet from grabbing hold of the dry skin and shredding my feet in our ridiculously dry climate. If it was this bad during the summer I don't even want to think about what January is going to be like. I know I should just wear house shoes or socks but I just can't. I have enough time making the switch from my berks to chucks (or snow appropriate shoes when it's snowing. I've learned that lesson, yes) for work once it gets colder
And now that you know more than you ever needed to know about my body products (and body), I'm going to topple.
The leaf blower has stopped. Woot! |

Title: Deprivation+Impulse/Gravity Author: buggs Fandom: Grey's Anatomy - Meredith POV
Based on spec for the first two hours of season five. The super spoiler conscious may want to skip until after.
The breeze is strong here, and the air is thick and moist, telling her that the clouds may let loose soon. She should go back inside. ( Deprivation+Impulse/Gravity ) |

| This joke is growing old... |
[Sep. 8th, 2008|03:51 am] |
In the "don't knock it till you've tried it" category: omelettes with avocado.
I know that Meredith can't cook and that they made this big joke about how she put avocado and "whatever cheese that was in the fridge" in the omelette, but as long as you don't actually cook the avocado in the omelette, and you like avocado, it's a pretty rockin' dish. Mimis has a kick ass avocado, bacon, swiss omelette on their breakfast/brunch menu. It's fab.
